About

Welcome. My name is Lisa.

My grandmother taught me to knit with fat plastic needles and a skein of Red Heart Super Saver Acrylic yarn when I was 7 or 8 years old. I’ve been knitting ever since. A few years ago, upon discovering Cat Bordhi’s book “Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles” I become a fervent sock knitter and sock yarn stasher.

And as you may have guessed by the name of this blog, I also love the Red Sox. Growing up just outside of Boston I spent many lazy Sunday afternoons watching games on Channel 38 with my Dad. Dad introduced me to the game, but it is my husband Jeff who taught me to truly love the Red Sox.

And in discovering my love for this team, I realized that baseball is the perfect sport to watch while knitting. Football, basketball, and hockey are all full of quick action, meaning I must watch the play, not my stitches. But with baseball, I can listen to the play-by-play, with only an occasional glance up from the needles to see Mike Lowell snag an out at third or to admire Big Papi as he sends the ball sailing high over the Green Monster onto Landsdowne Street.

So welcome. Leave a comment. I’d love to hear from you. Find me on Ravelry and Twitter. Or just send me a message at knitsox at verizon dot net.

Happy Knitting and Go Sox!
